Busy week!

We have had an extremely busy week.  I hope summer won't always be like this!

Saturday - Marsalie worked
Sunday - Marsalie and Johnny got to go to the BC Lions Football Game (alone!!) after celebrating Father's Day and going to church.
Monday - Shaylah's end of year pre-school picnic at the park.  Johnny took his Dad to the TELUS skins game in Victoria.
Tuesday - Johnny still away enjoying the amazing golf.
Wednesday - Playland party.  (kids out way too late)
Thursday - Marsalie worked.  BBQ party at Jericho beach for dinner with Sunny Hill work mates.  (kids out way too late again!)
Friday - Marsalie worked.  Johnny did the Grouse Grind before work.  I think we all fell asleep very early from exhaustion.
Saturday - Shaylah's dance recital.
Sunday - Soccer party to celebrate a school friend's birthday.

What will next week bring?

Shaylah's Dance Recital

Shaylah had her final dance class of the season and the girls put on a recital.  She was (of course!) the best in the class.  :)  I was a very proud parent watching her.

Great Gran gave her flowers to celebrate.

She is so proud of her flowers...they are now sitting very proudly on the dining table and Shaylah checks on them frequently to make sure they have enough water.

Playland

We had a fun-filled night of never-ending rides and popcorn.  So fun!!

And boy were they tired the next day.....so worth it.  Can't you just see the pure joy in their faces?

Pre-school

Shaylah has officially finished her first year of pre-school.  She did such a great job this year and learned so much.  She has also made some great friends.  These are her two best friends....note how much taller she is than the other girls.  I hope she loves being tall and doesn't resent it in the future.

I have recently discovered that Shaylah is quite popular with the boys in her class.  There is one little guy who insists he is going to marry Shaylah and have 5 kids with her (although Shaylah tells me that she would rather marry her brother); another little boy is constantly trying to kiss and hug her and often refuses to leave the class until Shaylah has left; a third little boy who invited her to his older brother's birthday party after being told he was only allowed to invite TWO of his own friends.  I am glad she gets along so well with the kids in her class and I hope she remains confident in her own self throughout her life.

Next year I will have all three of the kids in pre-school.  Shaylah will attend on M,W,F mornings, while Ashlyn and Caelan will attend on T, Th mornings.  I contemplated putting them all in the same class, but thought it would be better for Shaylah to have her own space and her own friends.  The little ones are already very eager to start school, since they already know the teachers and the classroom.  I hope they transition as well as Shaylah did!

Swimming

We have taken the kids swimming several times in the past month.  They are loving it.  Shaylah is actually very independent, as long as she has her water wings on.  Caelan wants to do whatever Shaylah is doing (as usual) and Ashlyn clings to whomever is holding her.  She is so scared.  The funny thing is that she is always the one asking "Can we go swimming?".  I think she just loves the hot pool and modeling her Dora bathing suit.

Shaylah the photographer

We received a free "cheapie" camera from Superstore the other day (a gift for spending way too much money on groceries), but Shaylah has been having fun being behind the camera.  She is a budding photographer, I think!  Here are a couple of her most recent shots.  Talent indeed!

Stanley Park

Johnny took a much needed day off yesterday to spend with the family.  He picked a great day too, because the weather was perfect for exploring.  We decided to head downtown and spend some time at Stanley Park.  Here are a few pictures of the kids at the playground.

Doesn't Shaylah look so old?  She seems so grown-up to me lately.

Caelan just wants to do whatever his big sister is doing.  He adores her.
